Avnet has acquired Hacker . What does it mean about the openness of Hackster.IO which up to now has been platform and vendor neutral.

Details here.

The mergers and acquisitions continue …

Hackster.io has had support from a wide range of vendors such as  Arduino, SparkFun, Make:, Adafruit, Microsoft, Amazon, NXP, Samsung, Seeed and Cypress. Indeed from the Microsoft perspective, that is where IoT-Core developers have been encouraged to post their projects for community review and use. Avnet is a Electronics Component OEM and IT solutions provider. The question then is will this narrow the openness of Hackster? Or will it enable Avnet to get traction with the community with respect components?
